Imagine showing a petrol engine to someone who had only known electric vehicles, and trying to convince them to switch to petrol. No-one would choose the dirty, noisy, less efficient, more expensive vehicle. This isn't 1910, hostage to gender insecurity. We can just choose the better tech.

Sometimes the historical dictionary offers solace through the existence of an obsolete word that is sorely needed now. One of them is ‘respair’, recorded just once, in the 15th century. It means fresh hope, and a recovery from despair.

This really is a global heartbreaking disgrace.
UN General Assembly, US votes with Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea, Mali, Nicaragua, Niger, and Sudan, against a big majority of 105 countries (plus 33 abstentions) because the resolution on UN-Europe human rights cooperation says Russia attacked Ukraine.

We really should just call "natural gas" by its actual name: methane.
It's a fossil fuel, and burning it adds carbon to the atmosphere. The word "natural" is really unhelpful here, and it needs to go.
