This program is so incredibly effective it's used as a model to advocate for similar programs being set up for other groups-it flat out eliminated veteran homelessness in entire towns/regions where it was strongly implemented. No homelessness, less suicide, improved drug/alcohol treatment outcomes

It's a view built into blaming the Soviets, which is extremely common in US rightwingers. Citing the Black Book of Communism & the Victims of Communism Memorial Fund are common, despite that they directly repeat Nazi propaganda along these lines, framing Nazis as victims of Soviets thru WWII.
