After the last few years, I would not have thought that the guys at FIFA could sink any lower, but hey, look! They found a way to dig a tunnel to the centre of the Earth 🤮

Good news for all SAD sufferers, particularly those in Scotland: it is now officially only three weeks to the Winter Solstice.

I need to make some sort of Ulysses Pact with someone about all things DIY. Specifically, the next time I buy a fixer upper proudly proclaiming that I can do most things myself, I need someone to step in and tie me to a mast until the Siren Song of B&Q can longer be heard.

I can’t help thinking about what Miss Piggy would have said(and done) in response to that latest Trump remark, and now I really want the Muppets to do a South Park.

I just saw the CFP for next year’s Privacy Law Scholar’s Conference on LinkedIn, which stated that they introduced a ton of new things.

I love that conference, but all I want for Christmas is for them to move it to Canada. Not travelling to the US until all of this is over.

Hello lazyweb. If I wanted to start blogging again, but don’t want to use one of the large commercial centralised platforms, where would I go?

User friendly UX venues only please. I’m a tech lawyer, not a techie and my “coding” skills begin and end with applying existing formatting and styles […]

Does anyone else feel somewhat exhausted by trying to avoid “smart” anything in their homes or on their person? My recent purchase of a new kitchen felt like running an obstacle course of avoiding cloud-based elements. The shop assistant was patient and well-meaning, but God, did she have a job […]

I’m about as Cassandra as they come in terms of predicting future disaster, but if you had told me ten years ago that I would be watching a video posted on social media by the President of the effing United States where he is sitting in an airplane wearing a crown and dropping sh*t on a bunch of […]

I have a renewed appreciation for people with chronic pain, who somehow manage to remain functional members of society and not become homicidal maniacs.

Did my back in on Saturday in a way that was completely debilitating. Today - three baths, two heat pads, half a tube of Deep Heat and 32 […]

The thing that gets me about the Autism/Tylenol story is that the experience from 1930s Germany shows that it might ultimately be preferable to have them classify this as “Paracetamol problem” rather than a genetic problem. But then I grew up 50 km from Hadamar […]

The Nation pulls NO punches, from @espiers.bsky.social

"There's no requirement to take part in this whitewashing campaign. Refusing to join in doesn’t make anyone a bad person. It’s a choice to write an obituary that begins “Joseph Goebbels was a gifted marketer and loving father to six children.”

One of the more frustrating aspects of getting older, but having a stupidly vivid memory of things that went before, is that nearly all the current policy discussions on tech regulation remind me of mistakes made in the past, often in the face of dire warnings issued at the time about all the […]

Looking at what’s going on in the US right now, it’ll be a cold day in hell until I next allow an American to lecture me on free speech and civil rights. I genuinely hope that the EU takes this opportunity to promote its much proclaimed values, rather than just following suit.
