AOC: It's really because Republicans— they’re very thin skinned and they're very sensitive, and their feelings are very easily hurt. And so they have to vote on censure resolutions.

Chaje Adler was the mother of Bertha, Frida, & Nelly; aunt to Zigmond. She worked as a tailor in Liege when the Nazis invaded. She hid with her family but was found when her husband was hospitalized in May 1944. She was gassed with two of her daughters & nephew on May 21, 1944.

This is Zigmond, cousin of the Adler sisters posted earlier. He lived with the Adlers after his mother died and was 3 years old when the Germans occupied Belgium. He hid with his family until arrested in May 1944. He was gassed on May 21, 1944 at 7 years old.

Nelly Adler was Bertha & Frida's youngest sister. She was 10 when the Germans occupied Liege and she went into hiding with her family. Her family was arrested by the Gestapo in May 1944 and she was gassed on May 21, 1944 at 14 years old.

This is Frida Adler, Bertha's older sister. Frida worked as a maid and visited her family often. One day she received a message that said "Don't come" because they'd been arrested by the Gestapo. She was in Brussels when it was liberated in 1944. She immigrated to the US in 1946.

Has anyone discussed the possibility that DOGE sees “probationary employees” and thinks they’ve had poor reviews without realizing that every new employee is considered probationary for the first year in their position? Including if you’ve just been promoted to a higher role?

Boulder by Eva Baltasar 💙📚
When Boulder's partner Samsa wants to have a baby, her world turns upside down. The imagery in this slim novel is fantastic and I loved the Icelandic setting.

Bertha Adler was 11 when the Germans occupied Liege, the Belgium city she lived in with her parents and two sisters. Catholic friends tried to help them with false papers to keep the safe. The Germans found them in May of 1944 and she was gassed two days later.

So much to unpack in this novel, with haunting imagery and unforgettable relationships. I will definitely be rereading!!

This research disputes the prevailing belief that white southern women were too delicate to be pro-slavery. This shows the myriad of ways w. southern women participated in and benefited from slavery in the south.

I was totally annoyed by the MMC in this early 20th century Japanese novel. This book reminded me a lot of Norwegian Woods by Haruki Murakami.
