Having just returned to England after 10 days in France I'm confused by these new mini roundabout designs that alternate between St George and St Patrick every 45 degrees.

Mrs KATC and I are currently in Rouen where, in 1431, Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake for various heretic crimes, including wearing men's clothing.
She was found not guilty in a retrial 25 years later.
And there, in a nutshell, is the best argument against the death penalty you could ever have.

If I ever go into the loos in somewhere like an office building and go to use the final available cubicle, I find myself shouting "House" quietly inside my own head.

Can't say I don't have issues with the Catholic church, or with religion as generally for that matter.
But selecting an American Pope is grade A trolling of a US government which is very much deserving of it.

I've had more than 24 hours to think about it and can't think of a single mildly humourous thing to say about the pope dying. There's a few jokes on the internet about dead popes, you can find themselves. I need a holiday.

Watched the Eddie the Eagle film with niece last night. She gave it 7 out of 10, commenting that it'd have got a 9 if he'd died in a pool of his own blood at the end.

Walked past here earlier. I was reminded that it was where both Neil Sedaka's Love Will Keep Us Together and Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart were recorded (7 years apart in 1983 and 1980 respectively).

Recently saw an advert for Taylor Swift which was great as I've got a suit that needs adjusting urgently.

We've had a toaster for the past 15 years which bleeps in an endearing way when turned on and when popping up. It uses an electronic button to make it go up/down rather than using the traditional, manual system. We have referred to it from day one as 'the toaster of the future.'

Why are down escalators not called de-escalators?

For reasons relating to Mrs KATC's inability to understand measurements of items being purchased online I find myself currently at the Trafford Centre. Some of the people here give the impression that their visit is voluntary and that, frankly, is just odd.
