Not surprised by this change, but Synology's shockingly customer-blind policy to restrict hard drives to its own branded kit is bizarre. www.tomshardware.com/pc-component...

Finally got around to reading “Careless People.” Fascinating and eye-opening. Recommended read. (Although Meta’s attempt to block it directly led me to reading it. #PR101)

Careless People has plenty of scandal. It also portrays Facebook’s larger-than-life executives as flawed, awkward, and hypocritical humans.

Late to the Balatro party and winning my first game took me way longer than I expected! My gaming PC is really maxxing out the frames on this one!

CES 2025 is the 40th anniversary of the Commodore 128 — the last 8-bit PC first appeared at CES 1985
An excellent software-compatible C64 upgrade — but too late considering Intel 8086's release in 1978.

My wife would smack down this purchase decision, but it’s rather desirable to encourage my (coff) burgeoning transition into the big leagues as an F1 racer.

About 20 years ago I pushed for a cover story on Jensen in #CPUmag. Don't recall "crypto" being in my vocabulary, but I knew Nvidia had a special something from the moment I played Virtua Fighter on the Diamond Monster 3D. Thus, got sort of a joyful kick out of the CES keynote last night.

Gordon and I met several times at IDF and other tech conferences during our CPU (for me) and Max PC (for him) magazine days. We had great, enjoyable conversations. Being at "competing" publications was always a laugh. Remember a lovely person with a FANTASTIC grip on PC hardware. You left too soon.

Holy buckets @dosnostalgic.bsky.social, I remember getting this in to do a review! Took it seriously: Bought a lot of wine at the time. All for our readers and not reimbursed. The things we do for our audience!
People often forget about the most essential Microsoft products.

Woke up in the New Year very randomly hankering for 1992's Alone in the Dark. Not sure why. I own it on GOG and played the original French pre-release (beta?) demo back in the day via some BBS. But can't for the life of me find that version anywhere. It has the pre-final content in it. Fascinating!

Had been avoiding Balatro all year. ALL YEAR!

Yesterday I made the mistake of buying it on iOS on a whim after all the Game of the Year discussions.

I've killed my phone battery twice in less than 24 hours. So much for willpower on 2025 resolutions.

Happy New Year to many (and early to others)!
