Yes. it is evidence of a much larger issue. In Philly, almost 118,000 students and there are only three certified librarians in the entire district.
Philadelphians haven’t seen or experienced libraries with librarians in a generation (maybe two).

Yes 5 calls is a great resource right now! @everylibrary.bsky.social also has many petitions - one where you can write letters to editors of ALL your local papers at once and one where you can auto-call your reps

I would speak at as many school board meetings as I could about the loss to student learning when a librarian’s position is cut.
