That distinction is a small and relatively unimportant part of why the post was nonsense, though. It’s very ‘internet’ for people to just want to focus on that kinda-arguable bit to avoid acknowledging that the post was rubbish and it would, indeed, be nice if people didn’t amplify such stuff.

… they can usually deteriorate their products and service for a really long time before it’s bad enough that enough decision makers are making enough noise to force a rethink.

SF is usually expensively embedded, users dealing with this shit have little influence in its use (purchase). That is to say, SF doesn’t really have to please users, it has to sell to bosses, who are usually slow. So it would be quite a thing if it had to wind things back so quickly.

Three countries are careless enough to let me have a passport.. but I have chosen only to have an Irish one as I was allowed to be both spectacled AND in black and white.

It’s a parking lot, as you understand it, but it knows who you are without you telling it, or consenting in any way. And this is ‘good’ and should be extended to everything that’s isn’t a parking lot.

Yup. Dunno what the Android of it all is.. but Apple’s commitment to privacy really should involve blocking the ability of apps to access contact info. Full stop. There is no consent and no realistic pathway to getting it.
They can’t stop this shit.. but they can’t stop stop making it easy.

Melbourne’s average is possibly somewhat distorted by cheaper housing that’s so far from the city it may as well be in Adelaide. Not to mention a glut of really poor quality apartments. Still.. on balance it’s better to have poor options than no options, I guess.

This will happen. See also, companies will start boasting about having 100% human customer services (much like they bragged about not having overseas call-centres when the shine wore off THAT episode of ‘You’re job is going to die. Be very scared and work harder’.
