Yesterday morning I was pleased to have an opportunity to speak with students about the University of Law’s #BPC and how to get ready for a career as a barrister.

Also there was a criminal litigation taster session on hearsay evidence - a tough concept to get to grips with, but rewarding!

Here at my Manchester campus of the University of Law we are excited every year for our flagship mooting competition held in association with the Manchester Business and Property Courts Forum. We were pleased to welcome five full and part time judges to adjudicate the rounds yesterday. A great day!

Must have been a busy old night.

I’m going to suggest that if you’re baking scones at home and you’re not using this stuff, you are Missing A Trick.

I’m quite intelligent.

But this game has two pages of instructions - with five lines of ‘preparing to play’ that took me 15 mins to understand. Each player has a two-page how-to-play sheet that is frankly baffling. And there is an online how-to-play explainer vid. The game loses its raison d’être.

I wish I too could spend this afternoon sitting on a wall and gazing into space.
