The bright points with spikes are stars in the Milky Way.

I did another Throw Thursday! And then promptly knocked the board I had transfered everything to on the floor... I'm so glad you can reclaim clay!

I discovered with delight two Terry Pratchett short story collections in the library the other day I hadn't seen before!

The passage in a story from the Witch's Vacuum Cleaner is exactly how I feel when I read his work: I go to a place that is far and near my time as the other side of a shadow.

I saw violets in the leaf litter and held hope in my hands.

I did it! I touched clay today!!

I haven't been allowing myself time to make things at all so I'm thinking about starting "Throw Thursday" where I try to throw at least one pot.

I like throwing outside because it's easier to clean up after.

I'm so proud of my latest batch. It looks like 'real' pottery. This is one of my Galaxy Mugs.

Glaze fire complete!

I am mad two of my nicer bowls cracked a teeny bit on the bottoms but I had so much trouble with uneven drying in my winter studio, I'm not surprised. Some winners. Some glaze failures. It's always a surprise.

Photos to come!

My first glaze firing of 2025 is loaded!

I learned what are the hot commercial glazes combos this time around. I picked ones that should interact in cool ways. Given my chemistry/lab background, I know making my own is the next step... Pottery ... it's a slippery slope, folks.

I'm calling this the Monet Bowl. I'm not sure how mixing these Mayco Stroke&Coat colors will fire but I'm excited.

My very slow glazing process has begun.

As a scientist, I didn't know I'd come to believe so fervently in the Kiln Gods.

Wow! Cool! The etymology of the words bisque (as in creamy soupy delight) and bisque (as in bisqueware) have completely separate origins, although both appeared around the same time period.

I think that's rather unique.

I think I'm going to do my first 2025 bisque fire this week....

Why is it bisque?? Like the soup?? Why have I never realized they share the same name??
