So it seems like this is going to be a good year not for just the finches, but boreal species as a whole? Snowy Owls are already moving down..We've had more scoters (boreal breeding) in our area this than I've known..maybe we will get Boreal and Northern Hawk Owl as well! Who knows?

Is it fair to start a GoFund me to support my adventure/exploration? Do you think I could raise money to do something like that? I have been trying to find some sponsors in Nepal, but that hasn't gotten anywhere. I do plan to publish a book out of that trip and write about biodiversity of the region

Hi! I need a suggestion. I'm planning an exploration trip in Nepal! So basically planning to walk from the Eastern part of the country to the western part, along the Himalayas. It's a part of a pilot trip where I plan to look for the best location to start a banding station in major migratory route+

An engineer wanted to make a quiet high-speed train. “The question then occurred to me — is there some living thing that manages sudden changes in air resistance as a part of daily life?” The answer: the kingfisher. See my story today for more tales of bioinspiration. Gift link: nyti.ms/4otNQyl

Its dark brown (appearing black) head, red bill, and white body contrast sharply with the blurred, warm-toned background.
