You know, I could write something useful and interesting here. I could use a bunch of single word declarative labels… something like, “Djinn. Jokester. Joel.” Or some such. But instead, I think I’ll just leave this space blank.

As Kagan notes, SCOTUS has given states a cheat code to enact illegally racist voting laws: just pass them close enough to an election that the Purcell principle will bar judicial review!
Under this logic, courts couldn’t block actual Jim Crow laws within a year of an election. It can’t be right.

Turning the Supreme Court into a 27-member body with panels like a regular court of appeals is easier to pitch if you're attacking the rogue supreme court that doesn't respect the law or its own lower judicial officers rather than the judiciary as a whole.

We need a functioning Dem majority Congress to actually *punish* the wrongdoers in such a way that they can never come back. We need permanent bans from civil service for ‘em. Otherwise, maybe in a decade or two, they’ll wind up appointed to a cabinet position
