I thought of Romans 8:26-27, talking about the Holy Spirit interceding for us in wordless groans. I’ve always worked hard to bring my best work to sing to God. Today, I brought my heart only, and He guided my hands through an imperfect improvisation as I prayed through the music. Solo Dei Gloria. 🧵

Tears flowing, I continued playing and praying, and by the time I got to the end of the prayer, my hands instinctively meander to pla a plagal cadence, as I pray silently the words “Amen.” 🪡

Admittedly, some of it was clunky, weird, didn’t fit. But eyes shut, I quickly migrated between chord structures and heard vocal harmonies filling my mind’s ear. 🪡

But it’s been creeping into my playing. Music has always been what I connect most to in church. Today, I improvised a song on the piano as I prayed the words of the Prayer of Good Courage. 🪡
