I went to an independent boys school in the 1970s. We were neither taught to type nor to cook- that’s what women were for. We were prepared to be lawyers, doctors, bankers, politicians. These people are still in positions of power, but thankfully approaching retirement.

The biological essentialist approach is profoundly anti-feminist. It’s the patriarchy re-asserting the view that women are defined by their “weakness” and ability to bear children.

The friction arises from the competing concepts of “biology is not destiny” (people can change gender) vs biological essentialism (“biological sex”). Their view is consistent if trans people remain their gender at birth.

I wonder whether this is what Putin has on Trump, or whether it’s other kompromat. He clearly has something.
