I’ve (finally!) got round to reading your fine article on Brian Wilson in September’s @uncutmagazine.bsky.social
That’s some of the best music writing I’ve had the pleasure of reading in a fair while.
Thank you 👌

I'm reposting this as I genuinely think hat this lad deserves a much bigger audience than he's getting. Not only does he have a fantastic voice, he wrote all the songs and played every instrument on the album bar drums. Give it a listen, he's a very talented young man #LukeMarzec #MusicSky
Luke Marzec is 1 of my fave discoveries of the year & his fine debut LP Something Good Out Of Nothing is nailed on to be in the AEB 2025 Top 30. He has a voice with shades of Cocker, Waits & even Samuel T Herring; jazzy, bluesy, soulful. Heres the gorgeous Space To Be Free ❤️ youtu.be/JNNgO4SC3uA?...

Daoud’s “ok” is hands down my jazz LP of the year. Ive posted his music before & hardly any1 noticed. He is EXCEPTIONAL guys! If Chet Baker recorded Rise era Herb Alpert circa with bits of David Axelrod thrown in for good measure…
Here’s a stunning live version of Dijon 😍 youtu.be/5AEU_ZdQGEY?...

How to describe Devotion & The Black Divine - the fabulous new LP from anaiis. How about lo-fi mystical soul? There are some stoned Massive Attack + chilled SAULT style vibes too. Have a listen to Deus Deus then pull up a reefer & sink into the rest of the album. 😍🕶️ youtu.be/ZCPLV15tKlI?...

35 years after I last watched them, Martin Stephenson & The Daintees at Bristol Thekla on Sunday night were just as wonderful as ever. MS is the very definition of the epithet “undervalued songwriting genius”. Not only that, he’s a warm, gifted & hilarious raconteur. A beautiful evening all round ❤️

D’Angelo, 1 of the pioneers of the 90s neo soul movement, dead at 51 from pancreatic cancer

A hugely influential talent who sat on a lofty intersection where Marvin meets Prince

For me Brown Sugar is 1 of the great soul LPs of the last 40yrs. A groundbreaking record made by a true maverick.

RIP

Richard Hawley and his amazing band performing Coles Corner on Weston Super Mare’s Grand Pier last night.

From the opening note of the string section on the album’s title track, I may have had some grit in my eyes.

Music that could move mountains.

Exquisite ❤️

What a great start to the day. What a track!
See, this is exactly why I follow Vintage Obscura Radio. I could have lived out the rest of my days and never heard this track. But I happened to see them share this, and I had nothing else to do, so I clicked on it, what the hell, why not. And it is INCREDIBLE.

The more I play this LP the better it sounds. It’s a real contender for my album of the year. Seeing them live recently has only enhanced my feelings about it, as having met them I can confirm they are a genuinely lovely bunch of gents. Borderlands by #TheMilk - British soul at its very best ❤️

Of all the places, Stroud in Gloucestershire has been the place to be tonight for a UK soul extravaganza.
The Milk and New Street Adventure take a bow. 2 great new albums this year and 2 acts that need way more love. Get on their good feet geezers ❤️

Whilst in Croatia, I discovered that the “Cats of Dubrovnik” is an actual thing. They are “community” cats, and roam around being looked after and fed by the residents. All looking healthy, hearty and no doubt very wise. Here are 3 of the little beauties

As you all probably know, I’m slightly not religious…

However, as shocked as you may be, I do find some parts of the Buddhist “faith” very enlightening. Not least the following quote, which, at the current time, I think is very apt:

“With our thoughts, we create the world”.

This is one of the most uplifting memoirs i think I’ve ever read. It also helps give Kevin Rowland’s recent book added context @oharaviolin.bsky.social you are an inspiration - kind, caring, modest & supremely talented. And to top it all, a Bristol girl too!
Thank you for the music ❤️
