Something I want to learn more about - Dassem Ultor. He was mentioned in passing a few times, however what little we were given about his story makes me want to see the whole thing. He sounds so cool.

Tattersail and even Whiskeyjack have the collective theme of being used is interesting.

Biggest surprise - one of the reasons I wanted to read this series is because I heard Gods were involved, but I did not expect them to be so heavily involved so early. They entered the story within a few pages!

MVP of the arc for me - Whiskeyjack! I feel bad saying that he was my favorite because we only directly saw his perspective once I think, but this character is extremely cool and I fell in love with him instantly. Of the two central POV's , I think I liked Paran more, however the way both him and -

the western film world desperately needs to shift away from the assumption that film festival juries are the definitive tastemakers, asap. I see so many reactions both pos/neg calling this a "big swing" and it's baffling to me.
