A survey of over 43000 students in Australia published in 2022 found that trans students were more than twice as likely as cis women to have been subjected to sexual violence in the past year, and also significantly more likely to be subjected to sexual harassment.

We discussed issues such as engagement between institutions and activists, the role of institutional policies in making change, and where to focus our energy for maximum impact for survivors.

Last month, we were guest speakers at a three day symposium, Holding Space: Taking Action, at Homerton College, Cambridge, which included academics, practitioners, professionals, creatives and students, exploring how to address harassment and create safe spaces in higher education and beyond.
