American oil companies were drilling the shit out of Venezuela, then Venezuela officially nationalized its oil industry on January 1st, 1976. Most affected were American subsidiaries such as Exxon Corp, the Gulf Oil Corp, Mobil Oil Corporations which had at the time invested more than $5 billion.
In 2007, the Venezuelan government expropriated the assets of foreign oil companies that declined to restructure their holdings to grant PDVSA majority control. Notably, ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips resisted these terms, leading to the seizure of their assets.

I haven’t shopped there for years bc it’s overpriced and the quality of the merch is subpar. Make it all fancy but they will raise the prices.
