Coming in late, but it was so bad I feel compelled to comment: Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Grating characters, bad writing, boring combat, tons of palette swapped enemies, and an ending boss sequence that feels like a fuck you. There's things I enjoy about it, but my god, what a heap of shit.

I read it for the first time last year, and as you suggested in another reply, it does feel oddly prescient w/r/t "the omnicrisis". I would say it's worth a shot, but feel free to drop out when it stops being fun.
