Wait. Where is this?

This is a great point. It’s why the only people I can find defending the D-Riders are a small select few on here. I mean, yeah, people are free to like what they like—heck there are people who watch NXT unironically.

It’s not overthinking to hold something that has shown the capability to be the best wrestling show of all time to a high standard. If AEW is 90% great then why not want the other 10% to be great as well? especially when that 10% is self-inflicted.
April 10, 2025 at 12:36 AM
You seem to be confusing me with someone who is arguing Swerve should have won. I’m arguing that the D-Riders angle has been so objectively terrible that CASSIDY should have won and put an end to it long ago. “Our Company Sucks” angles are the worst.

It’s because Swerve is over. Where were the people on the edge of their seats for Cope v Mox? No one cared. Absolute stinker so much so they ran it back with bells and whistles to distract you from how pointless it was. So many over people that could carry AEW right now and this is what we get.

Mox hasn’t cut a coherent promo in months. Impassioned? Sure. But what are his goals? What continuity does any of it make? Why don’t they care about the women’s title? The tag titles? It just doesn’t make sense. It makes many people want to tune out. Sure, segments with Swerve are popular.

I appreciate having a difference of opinion. But defending the D-Riders isn’t like an interesting bloodline story that you want to see overcome, it’s thinking Vince was totally right for pushing face Roman for so many years before. Doing something “just because” isn’t basic storytelling.

Correlation isn’t causality. I think AEW is hitting on so much good stuff right now which is more to the ratings than this angle. I loved Mox carrying the company during the pandemic. This ain’t it. It sucks and is preventing AEW from being the best version of itself.

No, a heel champion is supposed to make me want to show up to boo them, not turn off my TV because I am bored. The more we AEW fans defend bad creative the more silly we look.

I wouldn’t think Sami Zayn would be allowed to attend an AEW show but here we are 😆

That’s the trick. They know you can’t say anything negative if the matches bore you to sleep.

They just wasted 30m of my life combining the drudgery of their Revolution match with the predictability of every other DRider’s title defense ending and tried to hide it with a gruesome spot in the middle

I dunno. I think the WhatCulture pod is still class. Harsh at times, but I have high standards for AEW, so I’m not gonna pretend it’s perfect.

I do hate that most YouTube channels are forced to make headlines like this to play to the algorithm. No reason to get all worked up.

Even mediocre “wrestling entertainment” is more fun with friends

Because KO wrestled earlier

Not a bad plan for movies of that length. The difference is that insanely long Scorsese films don’t *feel* long to me. The Brutalist felt like it was never going to end. I know mileage may vary though. So you gotta do what you gotta do!

If you think Dune 2 is going to be a huge time investment, I’ve got bad news about getting through The Brutalist 😜

“We’re taking over the whole company!”
What about the women’s title?
“We’re taking over the whole company!”
You even have a woman in your group that could wrestle and win it.
“People don’t understand the big picture!”
So you’re going to ignore the women’s division too?
“We’re saving AEW!”

There are at least 8 women I would like to see more than any of these men’s matches that aren’t Texas Death Matches

This past year ANORA had the same vibes. I’d almost say more so.
