Let's not pretend. The hit to Vivi *had* to happen, but (and I haven't read the article yet), I think Cauldron should have also been banned.

Seeing Avatar previews, I have a concern about these two cards being legal in the same Standard format.

I had a sudden burst of inspiration on what I could do with this art from @marsel-defender.bsky.social, since it's just so wholesome.

It turns out, the perfect Magic card for it already exists.

This part is particular really spoke to me. The idea that we really haven't had a functioning for the majority of my adult life.

It's something I find myself thinking about a lot these days.
Congress is shut down; Congress was already shut down. Congress shut down in 2016 after spending decades running on dying batteries until the invisible hand yanked them out for good. The mafia state was made plain; civics drowned in corrupt institutionalism. We were told to keep pretending representative government was real.

In real life, I think I'm about a 4 in terms of intimidating. I'm tall and big, but my neutral face is fairly welcoming.

Online though, a lot of people tell me they're nervous when approaching me. I assume it's because I have intimidating art of Enigma and Edmund.

While you shouldn't buy from Amazon, they have the full set of 4 Final Fantasy precons for $208.

By contrast, that's less than the cost it would take a build even the cheapest Standard deck in the metagame in paper.

By contrast, a new player can show up to a Commander pod with a precon in hand, and they do have a realistic chance to take a game, or at least have a good time where they feel like they're making meaningful gameplay decisions.

This is simply not true for any other Constructed format, even Standard.

They don't offer pre-constructed Standard decks that allow players to walk and play something that could realistically take a game or two, even if they don't win a full event.

Challenger decks didn't even do that.
