Have you ever thought that you don’t meet the bar because you keep moving the bar?

Dear fellow #bluedots in red states: Are you flip flopping between staying and fighting, moving to a blue state, and leaving the U.S.? Because that’s my constant cycle of mental torment.

Country Roads plays at the Super Bowl and the entire crowd stops and sings. Together. It’s the word’s song, and it’s our home. Thanks for giving me those few seconds, Universe. My West Virginia heart needed it.

@npr.org , can we get a label for West Virginia? We Mountaineers already know it'll come with a bunch of jokes, but at least give us our consonants. Please.

His gastroenterologist stated that he’d seen some bullshit, including a duodenum that resembled a young Sir David Attenborough and a college student who ate his own foot, but anyone who willingly ingested a rancid brick of frog pee and the curdled milk of a Viking goat deserved exactly what he got.

Since we’re all doing that algorithm thing…holler if you’re liberal, a writer, a West Virginian, a book lover, an Appalachian, or a humorist. Well, pretty much everybody is welcome.

To Catch a Craw
While scientifically correct, few West Virginians call them crayfish. Unless you’ve got a PhD, calling them crayfish around here marks you as someone out of place.

Things I’ve learned on my first-book journey: I thought speaking to a group would be the hard part. It’s not—it’s the reading. The fatigue is phenomenal. #Writers, any wisdom to share? 30 minutes seems to be my limit in front of a crowd.

Listen. It’s FAFSA. F-A-F-S-A. FAFF-SUH.

I’m going to lose it. Everything is awful. There’s a cheese puff getting ready to sink the ship. Please. Just give me FAFSA.

It’s lonely. Lately I just feel so invisible. It’s like my presence doesn’t register. I never get any interaction with the other party, even when I wave my hands in frustration. I don’t know what to do about it.

I guess I should stand closer to the automatic faucet.
