Ikr. Says more about them than about him.

I read somewhere that he cleared out his brother’s home after his death, and when asked why he didn’t hire someone he said he couldn’t do that, because he was his brother and he wanted to be the one who did it for him. This too speaks of innate decency.

Just looking at it again, I am quite perturbed by how much that combination upsets my inner aesthete (that I had no idea existed until now).

We really must.

Totally fair. In fact, I shall join you on this.

How have we never spoken of Bukowski? We must remedy this soonest.

And I’m guessing you’re American? Which makes it even more shocking (I’m in the UK). How on earth have they managed to keep such a huge and devastating event so quiet? Like it’s been totally erased from most accounts of history, even Black history. I don’t get it.

I remember this being mentioned in a book I was reading, and I looked it up to see if it was real. A solid two hours of horror ensued. Incomprehensible evil. And I’d never heard a word about it.

I loved Barton Fink. But Raising Arizona … and The Big Lebowski and Fargo, and and and …

I think you’re right. Still so hard to grasp from where we are - especially when they get so very hurt/tantrummy in response to anything directed at them.

It is hard to comprehend. I think you'd have to be like them to understand the depth of their inability to care about anything. Even the things that would horrify most of us to the depths of our soul. Maybe especially those things.

When are you starting the campaign to keep it that way?

I didn’t know that about the Brexit thing. Their prices discourage me from going in there - that and the food poisoning I got from a sausage roll one time. (About which they couldn’t have been less decent.)

I’m sure I’ve read exactly the same article about Walthamstow. I don’t know why Gail’s is controversial. I do know their bread is very expensive and they do a good mocha.

My mother recently said ‘people of our age’ to me. She was 21 when I was born, and while I acknowledge that’s not a huge gap, I don’t accept we’re the same generation … I think it illustrates your point though.

Oh, doubtless. And he got to wake up next to Elle McPherson for a few years, too.

He's a fulminating loon and he lives over there - of course they're listening to him.

I so get that. Last night’s horror is already at the charity shop.

Seems fair.
