Failing at but mostly enjoying life. Roleplaying & Gaming. Can be found in WoW (AD-EU), FFXIV (Balmung), Epsilon WoW, GW2 as some version of a Valis + other characters!
i don’t like human characters and human roleplayers catching flak for just existing even if they’re perfectly non-egregious. why is it ok for people to act like that specifically to humans and not, you know, elves or orcs where the issues are just as pronounced

Idle car thoughts whilst stuck in awful queues due to stupidly planned roadworks; I saw a dwarf and an outright elf in Arathi armour alongside an Arathi General who is NOT present in Hallowfall. I can only assume they are all from the Arathi Empire, teleported by the Sunwell like everyone else.

I made a Forsaken. He's called Archiben.

Trespassing aside, I am surprisingly chuffed with the Founder’s Point lore. It shows me that Blizzard knows what they’ve written before - Faldir mentioned, over 50 generations of settlement which easily puts it at the 1200 years mark of Stormwind’s founding. A+ lore references, good for the future.

Narratives shouldn't be dictated by the whims of what consumers want or think should happen based on their own biases: Characters who have committed bad deeds shouldn't be guaranteed a 'comeuppance' just because the bad deeds happened. The narrative needs to allow for it in a sensible fashion.

I am a bit disappointed the housing zones are islands. I feel like Blizzard could have given north or south of Stormwind and east/north east of Orgrimmar a makeover like they did with Zul'Aman bulging out to the right.

We'll deal though. Not a dealbreaker!

Yes there is a Theme. Though I think Artanis is a bit of an outlier but he really fits Valis's current narrative, too!

I would love to play Fire Emblem games because they're right up my street vibes wise. Unfortunately I cannot justify an expensive console purchase just for them.

gonna be controversial again; projecting real life cultures and their struggles onto fantasy races that were never intended to represent or parallel said cultures and struggles in any meaningful way even if they take inspiration from them are doing said cultures and struggles a massive disservice

what the fuck is everyone vagueposting about. it's literally only happening on bluesky.

Cinematic musings: when Liadrin drops the memorised mantras and prayers and actually starts talking directly to the Light, from the heart, she gets a response. I think this is massively important and firmly roots the Light in the "force for good" category.

what do you mean the canonically mutable and adaptable race has massive variations in how they look...?
August 21, 2025 at 3:53 PM
i feel i need to say:

- the high elves were doing the "human religion" since their introduction to the setting

- the church of holy light is not christianity

- religion in fantasy is far more palatable than it is IRL because the cosmic forces actually fucking exist and perform miracles

this is grey, people, not blue. get your eyes sorted.

the HMP army in the cinematic is obviously meant to be a stand-in for people (players) summoned by the Sunwell to help defend it, judging by the opening event happening directly after the cinematic, but by golly is it funny to imagine it being an army of Human Male Paladins saving the Sunwell.
August 19, 2025 at 9:37 PM
people who thought there weren't going to be enemy amani in a quel'thalas expansion were honestly suffering from severe brainrot.

also an army of HMPs (they might be Arathi but I'm not sure on that) saving the sunwell is very funny to me.

awesome cinematic though. lor'themar's great.

More seriously. I'm now manifesting a pre-event where magical places of power across the world are used to project a shield of some kind like was used with K'aresh. (Amirdrassil, Nordrassil, Karazhan, the Sunwell, etc)
August 15, 2025 at 12:55 AM
calm down everyone it's just a teaser it's okay it was just stormwind and dornogal shown it means literally nothing for the wider story of the expansion
August 15, 2025 at 12:51 AM
i like both the raid ending and the dungeon ending.
August 12, 2025 at 10:22 PM
it is 8 months into the year 2025 and people are still comparing tallies of who lost what and who like it's some kind of win-loss record of football teams

this kind of thinking remains massively detrimental to the story

and again, i was guilty of it myself a decade or so ago

In fact I’m gonna be controversial and say Xe’ra’s actions, whilst morally wrong, are still coming from a place of good. She saw what she tried to do as the ONLY way to defeat the literally apocalyptic force of demons that have killed millions. And it was a war that the Army of the Light was losing
July 8, 2025 at 2:05 PM
I do think it’s a mistake to draw a moral equivalence between the Light and the Void as cosmic forces.

It’s been pretty clear that both forces can be used for evil - but with the Void it’s shown to be it’s nature, for the Light it’s specifically characterised as unnatural and a misuse of it.
