I created a giant banana in Blender and added it to my game. This is what peak game design looks like. #godot #solodev #banana #peakgamedesign #wow

I've been fairly commit-happy this last 12 months. With better commit etiquette (little, often, sensible), I think I can beat this.

I know X-Files took a lot from Twin Peaks, but directly copying and pasting their characters is... something.

Another day, another frustrating #Godot UI bug. Things line up fine when in editor mode, then just randomly misplace themselves when running the game.

Ah yes, Batman - that famously British guy.

I asked Google's Gemini, and it seems to think the workaround is... manually switch back to 3D each time (literally hundreds of times). 🙃

The teaser video isn't all that exciting, but bon appétit. #MadeWithGodot

In other news, I got to this point in Baby Steps, got right across to the other side of the spade, before it tipped over and sent me falling (to where I spent 30 mins getting up away from). I don't want to play this game any more. 😫

*phew* OK, rage abated, Google Drive automatically creates versions of saved files. I managed to get back the correct version (and made sure to create another backup). I have no idea why that happened. Windows/MacOS can't read a timestamp? Just decides to randomly save over things? Great work.

The form validation doesn't work, no visual feedback to the user, random 48 code, broken validation... and then they're like - that's $100 please.

I doubt you could come up with a more hostile way of asking for money.

Movie of the year? It was so good!

It's my birthday today. I always get excited to see which email promotional offer I will receive 😍

I watched a Lord of the Rings Online video on YouTube last night and was compelled to see if I could roll back time to 2007. Seems I can't as the log-in UI is the size of a postage stamp and the sign up page 503s 😀😭
September 22, 2025 at 4:07 PM
Heh. I just added a mouth to my #Godot game to chomp up a player's balls. I'm not sure if there's a nicer way to say that.
September 13, 2025 at 1:00 PM
So I've been chipping away at my first Godot game for the last few months in my spare time. I'm still early on for what I want to implement, and largely still figuring everything out... but here's a quick work-in-progress for my game about... rolling balls.

I'm going to create a feature request to #Godot to let developers know that sometimes there IS a theme in play, even when it kinda says there isn't...
August 18, 2025 at 10:01 AM
Sweet lord, I finally figured it out. There's a global theme (set in the project settings, which I don't think is mentioned when viewing the Godot UI properties) which sets a custom separation width for HBoxContainer. Oh man🤦‍♂️.
August 18, 2025 at 10:01 AM
It still doesn't expand, unfortunately. If I set a Custom min size for the label, the gap between the Star and the Label remains the same size, just the Label gets wider. 🫠
August 18, 2025 at 8:39 AM
I'm guessing this must be something to do with the parent controlling things?
August 18, 2025 at 8:10 AM
Hey #Godot UI folks, does anyone know why the "⭐" and "Text" label are so far apart?

I think everything should be set to: "Container Sizing: Shrink Center" - but there's still that large inexplicable gap. I'm sure I'm missing something simple. #gamedev

Face removed to protect the innocent. I'm so confused

Duolingo just tells users when they're right or wrong, but never *why*. If you want to know *why* you're wrong, you have to have to pay extra to get AI to explain - another example of shady fucking business decisions.

This is all too common when trying to use AI code-analysis tools.

"Hey GPT-4.1, can you help me understand this issue I'm
seeing?"

"Sure, this is the solution."

"Oh, great! Wait, that doesn't make sense. Where are you getting this information?"

When #Spotify isn't investing in military weaponry it's charging Premium users an *additional* £9 a month to listen to maybe *half* an audiobook? Wtf?

#GameDev is fun.
