I don’t think I’ve ever needed to shorten a pumpkin stem before. I started with a serrated kitchen knife, but this was absolutely the tool for the job.

Okay I’m still limping around but at least I’m off the crutches, so I went ahead and attached the band to the stool. The snap does not make this easy, it’s designed to be single-use! I had to use two forks of different sizes to pop it off my wrist, and a pair of vise grips to close it again.

So this evening I foolishly fell off a
stool while adjusting the Halloween lights and hurt my ankle, and I went to the ER for an x-ray, and right away they put this band on my wrist. Like, just to rub it in I guess?

It occurs to me that the 3-Cylinder Haiku Poematic, a piece I made about twenty years ago, is a lot more timely this year than it was then.
