March did a short loop through downtown. Very peaceful, not so large that it caused significant traffic issues. Actually a little disappointed with how few people came out. I know this was a little last minute, but if there was ever a time to protest, military intervention seems like it to me. 10/10

Smaller crowd than at the 50501 protests, but they are loud. Practicing chants like, "This is our home, not a war zone." The Humble Boys are here, along with several community support groups like Portland DSA, Urban League, and ACLU. I've also seen several clergy members. 6/?

Shortly after getting off the bus, a vehicle passed with several people in tactical gear riding on the sideboards. I can't even say if they were local police, fed officers, or just militant yahoos, because that's how bad things have gotten. It twinged my anxiety, regardless. 5/?

Do I WANT to be going to the protest? Hell no. I want to stay home and make concrete pumpkins and hang curtains and read. But I live here, I work for an agency that has been labeled a "rogue agency", I believe in human rights, and most importantly, I CAN. So I'll march for someone who can't. 3/?

I've taken the bus to protests before. Two go by my place. The one that winds thru affluent parts of SE always fills up with middle-aged white folks clearly going to protest. This one, going thru more low income areas, has few obvious protesters and more folks just trying to get thru their day. 2/?
