The Game Cube was MY first real console, with it I got Pokémon Coliseum, which was my first step into RPGs.
As for the game that made me a fan of the genre, it was the Breath of Fire 3 which I got to play after a family friend stayed with us for a time. I liked it so much that he left it to me.

Personally, I would recommend waiting a couple of months. That way by the time you're finished with the story you don't have to wait for the next patch, which will have the next raid tier and more notable the new Bozja/Eureka.

Yeah, that is one issue. The steel games are the easiest to recommend, but steel 3 and especially 4 should have been their own arc since they serve as the conclusion to the first part of the Trails story.
Thankfully, the sky remake might make recommend the earlier games easier.
