Since I'm limited to only 300 characters, I'll just share a screenshot of the text I posted on Mastodon for this joke I want to share here.
(I'm buying a proprietary cable in a Best Buy. Two men are behind the checkout counter when I go there to pay for it.) First Man: (flatly) That'll be $1,000. Me: A thousand bucks?!? But it was $10 last week! First Man: Yes, but that was before companies found out that it could be used for AI tasks. Me: Well, that explains a tenth of it, but what about the other $900? First Man: It's imported, sir. Me: What's that got to do with anything? Second Man: A meme of Trump, with the caption: "It's the China Tax, sir. I call it 'Tariffs'."
