(especially the snake, since I wouldn't have known it was there if there hadn't been about a dozen birds of multiple species yelling their heads off about it)

(and then in the middle of "we have always been the problem" there's the trap of worrying over "I could probably do better, somehow" when if I personally were the problem it wouldn't be an apocalypse, & those not cutting costs by *turning off the lights* are mostly trying to "cut" costs w/ AI)
