If I'm gonna be firing shots, that's because this discourse is driven by liberal people who are happy to only ever perceive works for a very specific demographic and would rather take shots at slop than explore different creative spaces & communities. At least shows like this are based trojan horses
Discourse about anime's self-indulgent focus on otaku is stuck on the boring framing of it as ontologically evil, as opposed to lamenting how most shows are very reductive about the culture. While goofing around, Bisque proves it has the finger on the pulse of broader nerddom in a sadly unusual way

You can take a single look at the show and feel that the energy is different from Nichijou's - not that the adaptation of that show didn't cushion everything with soothing moments. This tracks with director Ishidate saying he doesn't want to force anyone to laugh, but rather share a joyful world

Have come to appreciate CITY's aesthetic as not just beautiful (it's gorgeous) or technically interesting (the feeling of a seamless cel, 100% brush pens, etc), but also as the embodiment of the series. It's an interconnected setting full of weirdos, yet so different from Nichijou in its chill vibes

Fiquei muito feliz com o debut do ikarashi (queria que fosse um projeto original) e o kanno de cd, porém me deixou ainda mais ansioso por um anime da ishitani e do soty

I was always going to admire the craft of the Takopi anime, but wasn't sure I wanted to watch it in full because the manga was tough to digest and the tactile approach to the animation was going to make it even tougher. Beware, that part *is* true, but finding out who the producer is won me over

Wrote about many dazzling openings & endings in anime lately! The cool creators behind them and their techniques, who has historically been in charge, and how current circumstances (overwork, inflated expectations, cynicism) have shifted that role. Complex topic! blog.sakugabooru.com/2025/06/28/w...

Sonny Boy felt like a once in a lifetime blank check for Shingo Natsume. His new original movie with seemingly just as much freedom makes me want to be greedier and think that this can genuinely be his path forward. Maybe combined with more standard side projects, but focused on doing His Thing

You can have solo key animated episodes, but they'll likely require external clean-up

You may have clean solos, but it'll dial back the ambition

Perhaps can have ambitious ones, but at the hands of outsiders

Yaiba #06 is an ambitious, clean solo key animation effort by core member Takeshi Maenami

Really happy this is getting released! I animated just under 3 and a half minutes of this film. Im not 100% sure but I think the second image is from a shot Julien Bizat animated, and the third might be from Sandro Cleuzo
First-look images from Genndy Tartakovsky's Fixed, which will now be released by Netflix. Full story: www.cartoonbrew.com/feature-film...

Ok thats it for now. I did this on paper.
I tried animating the sheriff from Robin Hood. Tiedown on paper vs digitally is a lot harder to do 😭

Not entirely happy with the results, but the process was fun
