Anyone ever wonder where the grandparents are in modern classic stories? Sure, it might not be as dramatic. After all, if Indiana Jones' grandma checks in during that snake scene, we wouldn't be as tense. But maybe we'd have a more realistic expectations on the insane pressures to be "self-made"?

Finally got around to watching Top Gun, and learned that they have some rules for picking call-signs. My favorite is #1. I want restaurant waiters to do #1 whenever I ordered something by mistake. It'll be a healthy ego check alright. "Here's our one taco, Ten-Tacos!"

Apparently, this might mean that a lot of people don't like 'learning' as much as 'earning' and being 'earnest.' Makes sense. Except it's sort of ironic considering how similar these words sound.
