When I was in high school like 15 years ago, kids in the art classes were allowed, in a local tradition, to paint the windows of businesses on Main Street for the season. The guy in the store I helped paint requested Merry Christmas over Happy Holidays because "I want to be on the news!"

I spent some time in Texas and on several occasions, I was immediately identified as a damn yankee who wasn't "one of us" and didn't belong there. Not only am I white, but I also look like this kind of white guy (I swear I'm not).
