Taking a small (like tiny) step away from the gore to describe a soured rescue mission, by the end of the chapter the magical elements are delved into a little more and the ‘Gifted’s’ power of Enervation is explained, which leads to a super gnarly description of ‘being dragged to the Underworld’.

The characters introduced have their World turned upside down as the warring nations/tribes clash when a raid occurs, its a straightforward affair which is setting the stage for a fight of survival especially now as a new Queen is being appointed.

This chapter introduces what looks to be the MC.

Really looking forward to getting into the rest of the book. That opening was actually insane (in my very new to fantasy books opinion).

The detailed gore had me actually eeking at some of the descriptions but it doesn’t use that as merely shock value, its painting a very vivid picture that brings the setting to life and allows a book noob like me to understand the flow of the event taking place as well as imagining the sequences.

I want to at least try something that I wouldn’t normally gravitate towards, and thats the Fantasy genre.

So based off one video from a content creator just talking general shop about reading then seeing the comments, I saw this book recommended, looked it up and saw mainly positive reviews.
