So sorry, but Rami Malek is a ... well ... a repulsive actor. Over done, weird facial emoting, exuding feelings that are the cubic zirconium of human sense settings. And, so shallow, but in a "movie matinee" actor way, he is not pleasant to look at. Is iguana melded with rodent too harsh? 🦎🐀

A ★★½ review of The Love Machine (1971)
This is not good. Not at all. But as a politically incorrect time capsule of the turtleneck, sideburns, hair sprayed male and female coiffed hair-dos, polyester fashion, always drinking straight vodka...

@sophiacim.bsky.social Live for The Floating Moment reports. One day would love to witness it. Is he smiling? Blank faced? Skipping? Twirling? Looking wistful?
@sophiacim.bsky.social just floated from Times Square to Chinatown after my viewing. New 10/10 ruhrkry standard. Hope you enjoyed (in a painful, cathartic sense) as much as I did.

Rewatching some Woody Allen movies it awakens the fact of how literate & full of human depth some of these are and how this is missing so much from today's American movie output. Bergman imitations in many ways, but so rich in examination of existence, fate, regret, love and they look so beautiful.

The editor of a self created movie awards online site is a complete vacuous assh*le. The prime example of the rot in film talk.

You've heard of the Twitter Subtweet.

@nruhrkraut.bsky.social You'll hate the 70s THE BIG SLEEP. It's location is changed to London. It's grimier and salacious. But, would ever dissuade you from seeing it.

Mitchum is better in FAREWELL, MY LOVELY as Marlow. It is pure 1940s and set in that era. Earlier done as MURDER MY SWEET.

Haven't read it yet, but this looks like a good tome on the relationship both personal and work driven between these two men. A recent publication.

Maybe this will cheer you up. This is the best interview with WA, in regards to his novel, than others I've seen. Feels SO New York. Spied the novel THE DIRECTOR & book about the Mankewicz' COMPETING WITH IDIOTS on Woody's coffee table.

This billionaire MAGA toad said he'd leave NYC if Mamdani won & move his supermarket chains to NJ. Now that a Dem won in NJ, he says he needs to find a "friendly" state. Odds on him NOT moving anywhere.
