This tragic incident was accidental but could have been prevented by stronger gun storage safety laws and safe gun storage practices, such as using a gun lock.

Our youth are being subjected to extreme conditions of violence and trauma. Legislation that expands secure gun storage laws and raises the age to purchase firearms can prevent these tragic incidents of gun violence.

Arlington PD have said that Selby-Mukum was using a social media app to sell guns and had arranged a meeting with a potential buyer in January, and this led to a fatal altercation.
