This is what the scene looked like literally seconds after breakfast was served. I had to duck my way out of incoming White-winged Doves. That's what I deal with.

These two loving House Sparrows decided to have breakfast at a local restaurant serving fresh seeds. Actually, that sounds like a good idea to me!

This morning I woke up to what sounded like someone playing a tiny clarinet or some kind of woodwind instrument. Went outside and found this squirrel playing the peanut. Yes, you heard that right.

The Monarch butterflies (Danaus plexippus) have mostly moved on towards their final destination. Only a few stragglers are left like this one clinging to the flower of a Gregg's Mistflower (Conoclinium greggii).

I took my camera on an afternoon walk and spotted this monarch enjoying the blooms of an abelia.

I heard a whisper coming from this Queen butterfly (Danaus gilippus) while taking its picture. In the softest voice it said "To everyone who sees this post: have a wonderful week."

This Gregg's Mistflower (Conoclinium greggii) gets some love by another monarch (Danaus plexippus).

[Note to self: start a Gregg's Mistflower garden for next year.]

I noticed a few with a different pattern which I learned are the Queen butterflies (Danaus gilippus). Again, the Gregg's Mistflower is one they can't get enough of.

The arrival of the Monarch butterflies (Danaus plexippus) is always an exciting time. They are here, flourishing amongst the flowers. This one is enjoying a Gregg's Mistflower (Conoclinium greggii), a Texas native perennial.

These aromatic asters (Symphyotrichum oblongifolium) have been silent all summer long until just days ago when they exploded in blooms. Before word could get out, these honey bees were dancing all over it.

Any trick-or-treaters this Halloween? My Scarlet Sage (Salvia coccinea) is offering "treats" to all pollinators out there celebrating the season! 🎃🐝

A beautiful lady, yes. Certainly. But if the feeders are not filled by 7 in the morning, she lets me know. Loudly. Every morning. She prefers peanuts.

Sept 18 (2 days ago) was the last time I saw a hummingbird around which means they have likely moved on. Posting one of the last and decent pictures I took. I hope I helped them in some small way.

This tiny Ruby-throated Hummingbird (likely female or male juvenile) decided to rest here so that I could take its picture.

"Thank you" I said. It stuck its tongue out and then flew away.

Suddenly, I felt as though I was being watched. I turned to see this Northern Cardinal, staring at me, with such intensity. "Intensity, my dear sir", he said to me. "Intensity!"

I sat and pondered.

My Scarlet Sage (Salvia coccinea) has been getting so much love these past few weeks by all the hummies that have been passing through. This Ruby-Throated hummingbird was enjoying life today.

After taking several long sips of my special blend of sugar water, this Black-chinned Hummingbird turned and stuck her tongue at me. It was a compliment I won't forget.

I always perk up when I see a new bird I don't recognize. It was no different when I spotted this one which I believe is a Brown Thrasher. Apparently they have about 1100 songs in their repertoire.
