They built these things called garages near me, but no-one actually knows what they're for. Mystery.

Dutch Railways ns.nl has a ticket that you buy up to a day ahead, at a discount, and you have a six hour window to complete the journey. No stress about catching exactly the right train. Brilliant.

I've got hold of a copy of 'Lady Cycling - what to wear and how to ride' (1897). Much of the advice is surprisingly still relevant.

Interesting way of collecting commercial recycling.
A small yellow and black electric 'locomotive' pulls a large trailer, on which the full paladins and wheelie bins are loaded. Presumably empty ones were taken off first to replace them.

On Sunday I found this roadkilled greenfinch (?). Moved it to the side of the road, where it'll be taken by predators rather than smashed around car tyres.
This morning a greenfinch appeared on my feeder, FIRST TIME EVER.
A beautiful but dead greenfinch (I think) lying on tarmac.

A rural road pulls cyclists off onto a shared use path all of 30 metres long, then chucks them back on the carriageway.

We can't upset drinks manufacturers by insisting on a deposit return scheme, so instead we'll just pay doctors, vets and bike shops to fix the damage caused.

Meanwhile in local news 'Road rage forces Cromer carnival to be re-routed'
Article from yesterday's EDP: 'The organisers of Cromer Carnival have revealed they have been forced to re-route the parade for this summer's event because their marshals are facing a growing tide of anger from motorists cross at the road closures. Tony Shipp, who has been the carnival chairman for 50 years, said: "The abuse is coming from people in cars." In previous years, marshals have been abused by motorists frustrated with road closures, while some drivers have moved barriers out of the way to get through.'

The route through the bollards goes smack through the Give Way lines for motor vehicles. The drpped kerb is misaligned. There is also, of course, a 'Cyclists Dismount' sign.

If cycling is so horrible/ elitist / for losers, why is it always being used to illustrate 'carefree joy' in my pension magazine?
