If this is how this administration responds to a Senator with a question, you can only imagine what they're doing to farmworkers, to cooks, and to day laborers throughout California and across the country.

We will hold this administration accountable.

The 2026 budget passback plan calls for eliminating NOAA Research, the scientific backbone that keeps weather forecasts, alerts, and warnings accurate and effective. This would have disastrous consequences.

Read this from Jonathan Cole, who was provost of Columbia during my entire time in school. American research universities are under attack by the Trump administration, which threatens America’s leadership in scientific discovery, economic growth, and global competitiveness, especially against China.

The postwar compact on research that powered America’s economic and military dominance is under threat.

I had the privilege of attending GradSWE Illinois’ flagship event weSTEM. It was truly inspiring to hear from so many accoplished women who shared their career journeys, advice for persisting through adversity, and the importance of community. tessaclarizio.wixsite.com/website/post...

Federal science agencies are under threat. AGU has made it easy to advocate for NSF, NOAA, NASA and more. Visit AGU’s Science Policy Action Center to stand up for science.

Overdue but finally published my blog post on my AGU2024 experience. I hope that wide scale scientific meetings like this can continue happening despite the threats to funding sources.

We are alarmed by the Administration’s actions to freeze science funding and eliminate DEI efforts and climate change initiatives, which go against AGU’s mission and harms our members. We must unite to address these changes, beginning by hearing from you.

Book burning?
If everything was digital in Hitler's 1930s Germany, this is what his book burning would have looked like: deletion of data, removal of websites, retraction of scientific studies, censorship of words like "equity," "diversity," "climate change."

I would love even a back-of-the-envelope estimate of what all this lost data cost taxpayers to develop, and will cost us in the future with their absence. This is theft of astronomical proportions.
EPA, CDC, USAID and other data sites of federal government are all down or being scrubbed of long-term data that WE THE TAXPAYERS paid for. I teach with these tools! Why are our universities saying nothing about loss of access to information and research implications? I cannot believe the silence 🧪

Let me see if I have the timeline right here.

Monday: OMB Memorandum M-25-13: White House orders "pause" on all federal grants & loans starting Tuesday 5pm

Tuesday: Federal judge issues (literally) last-minute block on pause

Wednesday: New OMB memo (M-25-14) says M-25-13 is rescinded
🚨 BREAKING: OMB has just issued a memo *rescinding* the previous memo freezing all federal financial assistance programs.

I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service.

“Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.
White House pauses all federal grants, sparking confusion
The Trump administration has put a hold on all federal financial grants and loans, affecting tens of billions of dollars in payments.
