Did you know that back in 1947, a journalist named Orrin C. Evans and his brother, George J. Evans Jr., made history by launching All Negro Comics Inc. in Philadelphia? It was the first Black-owned comic book publishing company in the U.S.! #blackhistory

I want to spell out the basic reason it’s so dangerous for Elon to have control of the U.S. payments system. It may seem like a technical matter, but the dynamics are simple. 1/x

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent gave Mr. Musk’s representatives at the so-called Department of Government Efficiency a powerful tool to monitor and potentially limit government spending.

Just a reminder that Musk couldn’t get a top level security clearance. And he was under investigation for violating the terms of the clearance he did have. Now he has your Social Security number, your tax returns, and is unilaterally deciding who the government does and does not pay.

This is what the government did with 120K+ Japanese Americans in 1942.

I know. I was there in those camps.

Besides the GORGEOUS tree, this is all kinds of lovely, and since it’s my birthday, you actually have to read it.

I wish people understood what it’s like to be dead fucking tired. It’s not a hangover. It’s not that I had a fabulous workout that’s gonna make me feel great. It’s not the flu. It’s like all of that at the same time, but since most people experience it rarely… well, I call that a day that ends in Y.

There was a woman at the bus stop who sat in the middle seat with her bags on the other seats. Her bike was right in front of her blocking everything. When I went to ask her if I could sit, she lit up a cigarette. Even when she left, I couldn’t sit in the bus shelter with that cloud of smoke.

Are you listening, Americans?!?! CONGRESSIONAL REPUBLICANS DON’T CARE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU.
We are 2 days from a govt shutdown, and rather than an all-hands-on-deck approach to solving this, members of the House are working on impeaching Biden. Poor people in the US can’t afford to live without a paycheck and/or services during a shutdown. This move by the house is unconscionable.

Well, this fucking sucks. I mean, it already jacked up my health once (still), so I guess maybe it sucks more for y’all, since I’m already in it.
I feel like the definition of being at “high risk” from covid really needs to include “high probability of messing up your health and life for months or years” not just “likely to immediately kill you.”

A 9% chance that I’m gonna be sick for at least three months is a pretty high risk!
