I wish that America was a country who cared when grandmothers were dragged out of their cars, families terrorized, people put into camps, books burned, hundreds of thousands fired from their jobs, boats blown out of the water and pockets lined.
But we are not. We don’t care until it happens to us.

There was a time not too long ago, that every town in this country had at least one family owned hardware store.
Also a family owned grocery store, furniture, lighting, clothing, and shoes, electronics, repair stores.
Small businesses run by people you knew.
corporations destroyed all of that.

I just ate the best pizza of my entire life in Portland. It was like eating art.
All the patrons, ourselves included, ate our art pizza on the floor behind turned over tables, to avoid the battle just outside.
We threw on our flak jackets, clutching boxes of pizza, we barely made it to the car…
