Profile pic is middle-aged man head shot.
My first typing of the day resulted in messaging a colleague called Sahir but somehow typing his name as DShit. Maybe he will adopt it as an edgy work nickname? Or maybe I must now call him and explain how cold my fingers are with no heating.

My new work laptop is a Mac. I am enjoying working out how the heck it works and there's something vaguely Amiga Workbench like in the way the desktop operates.

Work listening.

I'm going to sing at my wedding. My band that last performed, badly, 25 years ago will be reforming for the night. It helps that the other member is my best man and wedding DJ.

Anyway, one of my late wife's best friends is a proper good opera singer - ENO & all that. She will be giving me lessons.

If we don’t signal our virtue every now and again - then so many believe they are utterly alone - “virtue signalling” is not there to say “aren’t I good” but “there are more of us than you might imagine” and “fuck you for demanding that only the brutal and the bullies may speak”

Boiler finally fixed after 5 weeks. Hot water and heating returns. The immersion only gave enough water for a very brief warm shower twice a day. There are 4/5 of us here so showers were rationed. Man it's nice to have a warm house and a hot shower that lasted longer than 3 minutes. I feel reborn!

One of my nerdy pleasures is following the YouTube account of a chap in the USA who has built a rail cart out of, essentially, a lawn mower engine and some meccano. He drives to some abandoned railway line through the desert and just goes for miles and miles. His cart has a proper train horn.

This Blsck Rabbit thing on Netflix is just really stressful and I have no idea what's going on. Just Jude Law and Jason Bateman being in constant mild peril and Bateman sometimes having a beard and every scene has a colour palette of mostly puke green.

If you see this post an album cover with a car (motorcycle, tractor) on it.

Child1 pronounces Spaniard as Span Yard and I'm all for it.

This is week3 of child1 pivoting from blacksmithing to floristry at college. Astonishing.

Yay! Just booked our summer hols - going back to house we visited in the spring last year - fully adapted, lift, wheel in shower, hoist, even the cooker and sink is accessible. Middle of the Ardennes forest for a whole week in August. Day trips to Germany and France. Peaceful & beautiful.

A move you've seen more than seven times, in a gif

A family came to view my house yesterday & brought a pair of seniors. My ring doorbell shows the older man calling over his son & being visibly concerned at a gravestone in the front garden, apparently not realising it was a Halloween prop. He was saying 'it will have to be moved, it's not legal.'

On a video call with a department head. I think he had a big night last night as he's a bit groggy and is wearing an open tracky top with nothing underneath, just skin and tattoos. It's a bit weird.

This is very good. Haai - Humanise. Contributions from Alexis Taylor and Jon Hopkins amongst others.

Two more house viewings booked. One is a man with a disabled daughter - hoping child2's downstairs bedroom, loo and wetroom is exactly what he needs.

Child3 was distressed to see me dancing to Taylor Swift and has asked me to either never do it again or only in private. Preferably the former.
