I'm beginning to suspect that Jeff Bezos might not know that the French Revolution was an actual thing.

When we say "research shows that you shouldn't do it" these people revolt, because "do the thing" was their sole success criterion. They were doing it not to improve retention or increase productivity or any of those things, so alternative ideas that work won't be accepted. It HAS to be That Thing.

Phil gets more of the "how do I make this inherently unsafe thing safe" type questions, but in UX they are more of the flavor "we decided to make the product worse, tell us how to justify it." What @miniver.bsky.social calls decision driven evidence making.
