I am often suckered into books based on pretty covers I see at my bookstore. And you gotta admit the covers in the last 5-10 years are such a huge upgrade to what they were before that

Yeah it's especially rampant in that genre and I'm not sure why except maybe cause romantasy is just a big genre right now?

And coupled with the creepy ugly AI fanart, that genre is such a mess lol. I hate that actual good fanart is so buried under all that AI crap

Yeah I mean they made for entertaining reads but tbh I've probably read better fanfics 😂 I guess the benefit tho is fanfics don't require as much world building

I guess it's kind of like the people who seem to love Twilight and Fifty Shades? They're not anything special or really that good but somehow just clicked for some people and then became viral?

People just seem to love those series so much and put it them on such a pedestal like it's the most amazing thing and I'm down here not getting that vibe at all. I think Mike tried one to see what the fuss was about too lol. I read the books a while back and I'm like... Did I miss something lol

Same deal at craft events. There are soooo many people selling shirts, tumblers, glasses, etc but it's not their art. Even if they buy the svgs or such to make those they're often stolen or just traces of existing stuff... It really sucks
