It'd be a different story if it was Trump as president with a D-controlled Supreme Court, House, and Senate.

A lot of what he's accomplishing now is only due to the cooperation of the other judicial and legislative branches.

I mean, one major difference here is that Rs currently control all three branches of the US government, whereas during Biden's term, Rs had the Supreme Court majority and after midterms, they also had the House majority.

update: i have found out what assets CoD 7 used AI for

my only thought right now is just "???????? why?????"

Idk. It'd probably be less of an issue if general wages kept up with the costs of games.

But it'd also be less of an issue if publishers and studios in general sought more sustainable business and development models, too.

Or like, with "live service" games, you have multiple studios simultaneously vying for the time and money of a large audience, and when that works it works exceedingly well, but the populace has a particular ... saturation point where they can't handle so many live service games at once.

As far as cost goes: yeah, prices have needed to rise for a long while. DLC/online-only storefronts blunted the costs a little, but only a small handful of games break even, and profitability is about as reliable as winning the lottery.

Consumers don't get paid enough to keep up with rising costs.

But that's also a feeling I reserve for, say, big AAA studios using it in such a manner. The scale and intent of a project matters, I think: if the training data wasn't given voluntarily, and it's being used for profit, I think that's clearly past the line.

Though my stance generally isn't a moral one. I'd be surprised if some studio did actually manage to utilize AI-generated assets to good effect.

It would cross into moral and possibly legal territory if their assets were generated from training data taken without permission, for instance.

There are still ways to improve an asset pipeline with automation that doesn't utilize AI, and having seen how some AI asset development tools work firsthand, the results aren't production-ready and the amount of labor saved is minimal.

(if this is about CoD 7 I don't know the details yet)
