Sometimes I do stuff.
The past 7 days have seen Satya Nadella admit 45% of Azure backlog is OpenAI, Jensen Huang claim he never promised to invest $100B in OpenAI, and Elon Musk hide xAI underneath SpaceX. We've officially reached the "negatively amortizing mortgages" phase of this fiasco.

Ever since my wife and one son developed #gluten sensitivity, I’ve struggled with how to bake a proper cake for them. One that you wouldn’t just stamp “York” or “Weider” on the side of and use for bench press. Red velvet was the worst. Until today…

I would like to see one CEO whose company sells product to xAI say, “This is not how we want our products used, so we’re suspending all deliveries to xAI until they resolve the problem of their platform generating unauthorized and underage sexual material.” Anyone?

Who at #Apple had the genius idea of forcibly enabling Song Transitions and Auto-Mix in the Music app? FFS Apple, and everyone else, leave my music alone!

A 🧵 about a weird experience with #Ebay this week... It started on Saturday
when a #Gmail address I once had associated with Ebay received a handful of
messages telling me "I was in" and that my listing had posted, and Ebay had
suggestions for how I could improve my sale price...

There are 4 clocks in this picture, and each one shows a different time. In a world with GPS and NTP, this drives me completely insane.

So I deleted their app.

I asked #GoogleGemini how to simulate turkey drippings with butter and chicken broth. It’s response began with a comment on how clever I was. FFS, I don’t need value judgement from a tool. I need to know whether the idea is practical, and if so, how to properly execute on it.

Why is it that, at so many hotels, I can‘t rinse away the soap when I wash my hands or take shower? Is there a reason some (but not all) hotels crank the water softener up to 11?

I don't know when humanity will create a Dyson sphere, but when we do, I'm confident of two things:

1. It will be cordless.
2. It will pick up pet hair as well as any corded sphere.

If you’re wondering if I have ever regretted ditching my Ring doorbell for an alternative where the vendor isn’t excited to share my data with anyone and everyone, I can say — without hesitation or doubt — absolutely not.

The irony of this reality is that, in most kitchens with a dishwasher, there’s a big heat-y thing less than 10‘ (or is that 3m?) away that runs on 230V and has a 50A breaker! We could have solved this problem!
*and my typical asterisk for international post-readers, this is only the case for those of us in North America. 230V countries have much more power to play with and their dishwashers usually fill with cold water.

We’ve reached that point again when I can’t watch the local news because the #Virginia political ads are so terribly negative. It’s clear no one running in VA has any ideas on how to make the state a better place. It’s all fear mongering and othering, and it’s pathetic.
