Finns are very into tree diversity (because we have low tree diversity), but every time we ask Americans about trees that grow in their area and animals who live in those trees, Americans be like “Wtf are you on about? What??”

If stock markets go down -4% over the next 7 years, this country will come unglued. People will run amok. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, depends on +15% annual equity gains in America. Nothing else will do.

Many well paid specialists will never recover. They can’t pivot fast or hard enough. This is a calamity for the 60-80th percentile of US wage earners.

I will never stop talking about this. It explains more about America and conservative movement than 20 Atlantic Monthly essays. And it can never be publicly discussed in depth.

The arch of the conservative movement in America. First they started calling ACA “Obamacare” as a slur. Now they are lying about Obama getting $40M in royalties for the name - and the President is amplifying this absurd claim. The President of the United States of America.

Leading American newspapers refuse to even hint at his clearly deteriorating mental state. Political coverage is in a dreamlike state of denial - focusing on mechanics and details of processes driven by someone who is clearly sinking into dementia.

He knows Supreme Court is likely to ban his lawless tariffs soon. He is spiraling; posting grandiose schemes about completely remaking the healthcare system and housing policy on the fly. Sending everyone thousands of dollars. All GOP Senators are applauding this meltdown.

Cognitive deterioration is undeniable. Yet it cannot be discussed publicly in America. This is unsustainable. What will become of us? We are trapped in this spiral. On this hellbound train.

It’s funny that China can force America to turn our AI industry socialist by rendering OpenAI permanently unprofitable. Sammy charmed so many powerful men into giving him so much money he will end up as a taxpayer funded, massive money pit.

The ballroom stuff cuts through to all the disengaged people who don’t follow politics. It’s very visual and meme-driven and hideous and genuinely shocking. Trump can’t help talking about it all the time, even as planes are grounded and children grow hungry.

Sam really is remarkably deceptive. He pretends to answer the question of how he is going to pay for his gigantic CAPEX spend by talking about OpenAI revenue. But he loses money on every dollar of revenue. So how is that revenue paying for even a ham sandwich?

Oh no… Sam is an absolute grifter… he is trying to exploit China fears by masking the taxpayer bailout of OpenAI as “derisking infrastructure buildup in race against China”. He wants to introduce massive systemic risk via moral hazard AND call it “derisking”. Damn…
