like, you know the sale records are public already; the entire story was that, and the buyer.

…because we had, despite our best efforts, internalized the civil rights movement. that’s why i call the european perspective ignorance: it’s one thing to have an argument ready for one of the lessons of the civil rights era and quite another thing to have never considered it at all.

i saw modern precursors to the US problem in europe and i think the shitty european children also brought their relative ignorance to the table and opened up a perspective that american children didn’t have. i was raised white in mississippi and i think i can judge this. we were not THAT ignorant…

the shitty, edgy, unsupervised children buttressed the online white supremacist presence via 4chan etc. and made it seem a lot bigger than it actually was. and of course the nazis leaned into that and indoctrinated the next generation of children who are now voting, all across the world.
November 14, 2025 at 10:32 PM
re: that last bit, ngl that is hard to do in the dragon ball fandom. my fault for being into something made for children. i keep waiting for the internet to figure out that unsupervised children are like 80% of how we got to where we are today, which is not to say the moral burden is theirs but…
Yeah, my attitude is 'great, go build that community'. It's pretty easy for gamers to start your own reddit or discord if your passionate and if your community ends up not being toxic and instead being useful, you will get dev attention.

bsky.app/profile/tere...
exactly. we get a lot of criticism for being strict on reddit and discord, and “your community would be bigger like x server/subreddit if you weren’t so strict” and i’ll be like, i have seen that community, and it sucks because its full of edgy, shitty children who have no fear of consequences. pass

like, we are not talking about a dude who has changed over time. we are talking about a dude who lied to cover his tracks. maine will elect who maine wants, but we don’t have to like it and we don’t have to welcome him.

my mom was one of those. she thought she wasn’t getting paid what she was worth because she didn’t have a college degree. so she went to night school and got one and then had a rude awakening.

Yep, alll of them. I grew up with TNG and the OG movies. I was attempting to watch DS9 in 2015 when I discovered that there were new Dragon Ball movies and a new series and I dropped it like a hot potato. Then last year I caught up with Picard and got inspired to finally sit through TOS, etc.

there will definitely be some "this again??" moments. it even becomes an in-story joke at one point

i did all of star trek and finished earlier this year. it took me about 9 months
November 12, 2025 at 5:41 AM
yes

i typically recommend people pepper them in with the series in release order for no other reason than that watching all of them in a row kinda highlights how repetitive they can be

just googled it, and i was never taught this way, but that's basically how i learned to read on my own. i was reading by age 3—i don't remember that, but i do remember just picking up vocabulary from context, and nowadays i often tap for definitions to check before posting something wrong.
