If the government takes away my disability benefits, I will continue to be disabled on a pro bono basis. Some of us are in it for the love of the game.
I got a little hand-held microscope for my birthday and I've had a great time looking at stuff. It's hard to know what magnification level you're at when you focus, but I think that there's one focal point at 400x and another around 1000x. I'm not a plant knower, so I may have labelled incorrectly.

I'm rewatching The Strain and I had completely forgotten that the worm vampires are also Nazis.

Extremely irresponsible for @theguardian.com to conflate these two things: ordinary Jewish people are not responsible for the actions of the state of Israel, and a disgusting hate crime isn't the same as a protest against a weapons manufacturer.

Extremely fun episode of @iwriteok.bsky.social & @whysophiewhy.bsky.social's #behindthebastards about Steve Hatfill's confusing life story. No idea if my episode suggestion post on the Reddit helped to manifest it, but either way I'm psyched to find out more about this guy. player.fm/series/behin...

I'm not usually a much of a protestor, but I will try to defend the University of Leicester, and my colleagues, from the bad decisions made by our management. The proposed cuts unneeded, unfair and backed by cherry picked metrics. I support the @leicesterucu.bsky.social strike action.

Heartwarming that the far right mob in the UK is still willing to fly the flag of a foreign country at today's #unitethekingdom fascist rally. I don't know what exactly they like about Georgia, but it's very sweet nonetheless.

The far right: "pointing out similarities between the Nazis and the MAGA movement is political violence"

Also the far right: "we are literally the Nazis"

Very wild to learn - and difficult to imagine - that Utah Valley University students are allowed to carry guns on campus. I can't see what possible educational value this could have, and it must make shootings practically un-preventable. I hope that Kirk's legacy is to change these rules.

If spraying red paint is enough to get Palestine Action declared a terrorist organisation, how illegal have all these St. George's cross roundabouts been?

I have a lot of constructive criticism to give to my body, but something that feels particularly unfair is that, although my joints ache in response to changes in the weather, this does not allow me to predict the weather with any level of accuracy.

Seeing Zack Polanski speaking the truth on #c4news was a breath of fresh air compared to Labour's continued obsession with scapegoating migrants and the disabled.

Banning refugees from bringing their families here after they arrive in the UK will increase the number of children making dangerous small boat journeys across the Channel.

I've been enjoying reading the Preppers subreddit recently, but I am definitely going into it with the wrong attitude - apparently a "plate carrier" is a type of bulletproof vest, and not a way of safely carrying your favourite china from the house in an emergency.

I'm re-reading The Looming Tower by Lawrence Wright and I'm amused to find the first passage that Past Beth found important enough to highlight.

There's something so funny about the Telegraph's leading line on the new CFS/ME genetics results: "A genetic cause for ME has been found for the first time, proving the illness is real." Millions of people experiencing symptoms could also be considered proof.

"Everyone agrees that the benefits system needs to be reformed" is a completely meaningless phrase. I would like the benefits system to be made better, the Labour front bench are pushing to make it worse. I realise that these are both reforms, but this doesn't mean we're in agreement. #newsnight

The whole world is watching as the aid ship Madleen tries - well within its rights in humanitarian law - to reach the Gaza coast. It is illegal for Israel to prevent aid from reaching people in need. Join the UN in demanding safe passage for Madleen.

Disgusting rhetoric from a supposedly Labour UK prime minister. Care workers are a key part of our community and I would be devastated if they felt like strangers here. You can't outflank Nigel Farage from the right without arguing for a white ethnostate so perhaps you might stop trying to do so.

Richard Tice just said on #newsnight that he'd copy Trump's deportation strategies to get around "woke judges" if Reform were to one day form a government. That's a sitting MP arguing in favour of deporting people without trial to concentration camps in another country.
