... no pressure, no responsibility, no evolution.

I remember that episode of ST:Voyager, when Janeway made her "ideal man" of a character from a pub on holodeck and then realized that it is not only not real, but not what she really wants.

Star Trek is truly all times classic lol.

Also chatbots. Like, whoah, they are really scary because of how good they are for instant gratification. I have OCD to the degree of psychosis sometimes, and I can see how people can fall in this particular rabbit hole.

It IS scary.

They don't have needs, you trust them instsantly...

I mean, I don't hate AI or people who use it, on sight. I see it exhausting and paranoidal, especially when people accuse artists and writers of using AI when they don't.

I hate the job loss, the false accusations, the hatred from each side on a subject both sides don't understand properly.

And because while I'm nobody at the internet, other people can stumble upon this and maybe see here something that connects with them, and they will continue to write and draw and create on their own, with their unique voices and styles, with joy instead of pressure.

... a problem in a long run.

So. For me, cons outweigh pros a lot. They are not obvious, but they are important - at least, for me.
While I don't hate "AI" or people who use it, I don't want to use it anymore, because as I've found out, the problem was always in my head, not in something else.

... it just can't understand nuances of unusual situations, places and characters, and it has hallucinations, when it struggle with these things.
- while AI has a lot of data at its disposal and can make some unusual ideas, it often repeats itself with concepts and ideas, so it become...

... about "me made this thing!" It is strange to realize, but I become to appreciate my own shaky writing more because of this.
- AI just can't understand a lot of concepts that we understand subconsciously. AI is scary good in finding and following patterns of its training data, but...

... and I've lost my own for this time. I don't know how to explain it, but AI has some preferences about structure of story and sentences, and it just not how I would write it. It was a big con when I've realized it. I've started to lose my own style because of it.
- the feel of pride...

Not so obvious cons:
- AI can't write with consistency in mind.
- the style is always "AI style". It was something I've realized later, AI can't write in my style even if I give it examples.
- the flow of mind. It is the least obvious thing. When I wrote with AI, I was caught in its tempo...

Obvious pros:
- sheer amount of result. AI can generate full paragraphs in seconds.
- decent quality. Yes, it is obvious, the quality is not bad. It is not masterpiece level, but it is good enough to be interested in the result.
- instant gratification! The most problematic one. It is like a drug.

(because people who are not concerned with them, will not be concerned with them. It's not "oh, you all are bad, because you are not concerned about environment and ethic". Humans tend to ignore things that do not affect them directly, in general. It is not bad or good, just the fact)
December 1, 2025 at 7:52 AM
The problem never was quantity or quality itself, it was just unresolved mental issue I didn't know about. Ironically, I can't see how I've could resolve it without AI :)
So, now about the pros and cons.
I'll leave the environmental and ethical issues about AI out of question for this one.

I've had an inner block I didn't understand about, and writing with AI helped me to realize it. Not because AI was good or bad, but because writing with it removed a lot of self-inflicted pressure, and the real issue become visible.
And that's why I don't write with AI anymore.
December 1, 2025 at 7:46 AM
It was something I've struggled to write before, and more of it, I've wrote it in English despite English being not even my second language.
Looking back, I've understood the strange thing: actually, I can write good enough for me when I don't think about how to do it.
December 1, 2025 at 7:43 AM
One day I've found out that AI coldn't write a particular scene (not even NSFW) for some reason, despite very detailed prompt. I've wrote this scene manually, and I was shocked, because it was emotionally charged scene with dialogues, and it was good enough for me to be proud of it.
December 1, 2025 at 7:38 AM
Prompt by prompt, I've commissioned some stories to AI, using it as a ghost writer for each couple of paragraphs. The result was not very good, but the better were my prompts, the better it was, especially with the help of editing the outcome.
December 1, 2025 at 7:36 AM
Then, came the "AI" (I'll call it that for the sake of symbol count, because it it is not AI really).
I was suspicious first, but after finding out that there are sites with AI specifically tuned for writing help, I gave it a try. The results were very interesting at first.
December 1, 2025 at 7:33 AM
It become so problematic that I was just stuck and dropped the whole story (and often even didn't begin it), if I couldn't write it "good enough" or become stuck with a plot or dialogues (I hate to write them, because I'm autistic and have difficulties with remembering conversations IRL).

On a related note, is there any really free from censorship, AI crawling and really safe (more or less) e-mail and cloud drive services? Proton had a huge controversy already with a French incident.
